News : No anti-terror measures at Khajuraho 

Khajuraho : History buffs would be startled to learn that anti-terror security measures were nil at the world-renowned Chandela-era temples that are part of the World Heritage site here and a symbol of Indian art and culture.

''Thirty-three baton-wielding guards of the SIS security agency were guarding more than 1,000-year-old shrines spread over about five square kms. They guard the area against intruders. I have informed my seniors of the facts and urged them to forthwith bestow the security mantle on the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF),'' Archaeological Survey of India official O D Shukla said.

The CISF is in-charge of security at the international-level airport here. Shukla had spoken to District Superintendent of Police Shrinivas Verma, who assured full cooperation and directed local police to dispatch assistance sans delay if an ASI request comes through. Three armed constables have been posted for guarding the Western Group of temples.[..]
