About this video : Situated in the heart of the country's central region Madhya Pradesh, is the fascinating town of Khajuraho. The tranquil town has a rich cultural heritage reflected through the numerous temples and an 'olde worlde' rural atmosphere. The Jain temples in Khajuraho have great religious significance attracting devotes from all over the world. Khajuraho in India is one of the top tourist destinations, with the Jain temples contributing their fair share.

Khajuraho is located in the Bundelkhand district of Madhya Pradesh. Many years back, during the Chandella rule, many places in Bundelkhand including Khajuraho home to some of the very large and greatly flourishing communities of Jains. In Khajuraho, Jains people mostly inhabited the eastern parts of the town. They built a number of Jains temples there some of which are still present.

Though there are nearly 31 Jains Temples in Khajuraho, some of the chief ones are the Adinath Temple, the Parshvantaha Temple and the Shantinath Temple. Almost all the Jains Temples are presently encloses within a large compound wall which was constructed in the early twentieth century. Ghantai Temple is an exception.
