Congress demands white paper on use of Central funds by Mayawati
Stung by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's assertion that the
Bundelkhand package was "inadequate", Congress today demanded a "white paper" on
how she spent the huge funds received from the Centre.
"Instead of utilising the funds for the welfare of the state or the impoverished Bundelkhand region she has wasted it on setting up parks and installing statues", UPCC Spokesman Akhilesh Pratap Singh told reporters here.
Claiming that about fifty per cent of over Rs 1.60 lakh crore received from the Centre was part of the non-plan expenditure, Singh said had the Chief Minister been serious about the development of Bundelkhand she could have utilised the funds for the purpose.
