(NEWS) Teenager arrested for shooting classmate at CHITRAKOOT

Chitrakoot, Feb 9: Police has arrested a class XI boy Manvendra Tripathi who shot and grievously injured a classmate over a dispute. Manvendra was arrested while he was trying to surrender before the police.

Manvendra, a resident of Banda, and Ashish, of Pratapgarh, studied science at the Chitrakoot Intermediate College in Karvi.

He shot at Ashish from a country-made gun in his hostel room.

Manvendra said that he only intended to scare Ashish but the trigger went off accidentally.

Manvendra said that he had bought the gun from a former student of the same school.

Ashish's condition is stated to be critical. He had been admitted to the SN Hospital in Allahabad.

Manvendra had reportedly broken his leg while trying to run away after the incident. After his arrest, the teenager said that he wanted to take revenge as Ashish had earlier beaten him up.
