Govt plans to extend PDS scheme in Bundelkhand districts
After launching the doorstep-delivery system for supply of foodgrains to BPL
families in Sonbhadra, Mirzapur and Chandauli districts, the Food and Civil
Supplies department is now planning to extend the scheme to Jhansi, Banda,
Lalitpur, Mahoba and Sitapur districts in Bundelkhand region.
District offices have been instructed to prepare a list of all such villages where people do not have an easy access to PDS shops. The department is aiming to extend the scheme across the state and is working towards checking the cost logistics of the project.
Launched in November last year, the doorstep-delivery scheme primarily targets at ensuring timely delivery of foodgrains in those areas where transportation is a problem.
