About: It is a state of collapse in Bundelkhand region and the administration has failed to deliver to the needy said Congress MP Rahul Gandhi after his day-long visit to the region here today.
"The backbone is broken. It is a state of collapse and the people are forced to migrate," said Gandhi talking to reporters here today.
Gandhi was speaking to media after visiting Mahoba, Banda, Jalon, Hamirpur and Ullan in the region where he talked to the families of the farmers who committed suicide suffering from indebtness and farm crisis.
Amethi MP observed that the central schemes specially the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme has not been implemented by the state.
As per records, more than 600 people have committed suicide in the region in the eight months rule of the Mayawati regime alone.
"There is drought and people in debt as farms are not producing anything," said Gandhi who promised to convey the situation to the central government and reach out with all possible help.

"Administratively its too big, I personally think smaller state could be a solution but how it has to done is to be looked into," he said.
The day long visit concentrated on the one-to-one contact program with the affected and the leader avoided addressing any political gathering during his tour.
The Congress General Secretary is slated to address a public rally in Jhansi town after a meeting with the local leaders tomorrow.
