From terror to tourism, region set for a makeover
The land of recurrent droughts, dacoits and a blazing turf war between the
Congress and BSP, Bundelkhand is heading for an image makeover. Straddling seven
districts in UP and five in MP, the region is all set to hit big times as both
the Centre and state government get ready with blueprints to hard sell
destination-Bundelkhand to tourists bound for Delhi, Agra and Khajuraho.
While the state government has ambitious plans to introduce adventure sport in
the region and the first of its kind in Uttar Pradesh, Jhansi MP and minister of
state for rural development Pradeep Aditya Jain eyes a comprehensive tourism
development package to pedal ‘‘rich history and heritage of the Bundela
warriors’’. Having made it to the cabinet superseding scores of senior
colleagues in the state unit, the minister is more than eager to counter BSP’s
growing hold in the belt.
