MP to set up university in Bundelkhand region
Apart from a university in the
Bundelkhand region, the state cabinet also decided to establish 14 new
government colleges
The Government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to set up a university in the backward Bundelkhand region of the state.
"The decision has been taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra told mediapersons here, reports IANS.
Apart from a university in the state's backward Bundelkhand region, the state cabinet also decided to establish 14 new government colleges in the state, Mishra said.
Besides a decision to give UGC pay-scales to teaching and non-teaching staff of the colleges from January 1, 2006, the state cabinet decided that the retirement age of the teaching staff of universities and colleges will also be raised to 65 years from the present 62 years, he said.
However, those retired teachers who would be engaged as guest faculty would be entitled for the job till 70 years of age.
Similarly, the cabinet also decided to raise the age of retirement of Vice-Chancellors from the present 65 years to 70 years, he said.
