Post - Dadua, A Bus Depot To Come Up In Chitrakoot
With the eliminiation of dreaded dacoit Dadua, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is now hopeful of building a bus depot in Chitrakoot. No buses could originate or terminate at this important tourist spot owing to Dadua terror and the only public mode of transportation one could avail are buses of other depots crossing the city.
Even after investing about Rs 30 lakh in a 9 acre plot on the main road near a tourist hotel, the UPSRTC could not start work as the owners of the land took a stay from the court — on the behest of the slain dacoit.
Earlier this year, UPSRTC officials deposited the money with the district administration of Chitrakoot for the land on which a depot, bus station and a workshop was proposed to be built.
“When the land was handed over to us, the owners of the land, about a dozen local residents, moved the court and got a stay order about six months ago," said D K Seth, executive engineer, UPSRTC.
Sources in Chitrakoot said the land owners moved the court on Dadua’s instigation.
It is to be mentioned that the Special Task Force (STF) shot Dadua and a number of his associates in an encounter that took place on July 22 -- barely three months after the land owners got the stay.
The other and the most popular mode of transport are 'Rawatpura Sarkar' branded vehicles, most of which have now been re-branded as Beer Transport. According to sources, the re-branding has been done after Dadua's elimination. “Dadua was a firm believer of Rawatpurwa Sarkar, a holy place near Jalaon district. After his death, the brand on nearly 50 vehicles have been changed to Beer Transport after his son Beer Singh” said sources.
Beer Singh heads the Zila Panchayat of Chitrakoot and is at present lodged in jail in connection with a crime. “Although he was never involved in any kind of gang activity, he used to extort money on behalf of his father. His name figured in a murder and kidnapping case that is being investigated by the STF. Beer surrendered before the court and is in jail,” said Pritinder Singh, Superintendent of Police, Chitrakoot.
State DGP Vikram Singh had on an earlier occasion said Dadua was minting crores every month from his terror business, which included extortion from contractors, collectors of tendu leaf, liquor trader, and kidnapping.
