UPPCL setting up a 600-Mw  power plant in Chitrakoot

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Creative Thermo Light for setting up a 600 Megawatt (Mw) thermal power plant in Chitrakoot district of Bundelkhand.

The unit, which will be set up at Murka village in Bargarh, is scheduled to start generating power in four years. UPPCL Chairman and Managing Director Navneet Sehgal said talks were on with private investors to enhance power generation capacity in Uttar Pradesh, which aims at providing 24 hours power by 2014. Recently, the state cabinet had also recommended setting up power plants of 2,500 Mw capacity.
