Bundelkhand Per Capita Annual Income Stood at Approx 19000
It seems the politicians have got it wrong in fixing funding priority as latest government figures suggest that eastern Uttar Pradesh is the most backward region in the state and not Bundelkhand which has got special attention and extra funds.
The per capita annual income in eastern districts was about one-fourth of the
national average at Rs 12,741 while the state's average stood at Rs 17,349. It
was Rs 18,978 in Bundelkhand which comprises seven districts.
The yearly earning of an individual in Shrawasti, Kushinagar and Deoria
districts was less than Rs 10,000 per year and that in Siddharth Nagar, Basti,
Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharaj Ganj was less than Rs 10,500 a year.
In contrast, Jhansi had a per capita income of Rs 25,824 and was in the top 10 districts. Only two districts in Bundelkhand fell below the state's average.
