Prime Minister Manmohan Singh likely to visit Bundelkhand
PTI News , New Delhi: Seeking to capitalise on the latest central package for Bundelkhand, Congress is planning to hold a rally to be addressed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the drought-hit region to drive home the message that it cares for the backward area.
A senior Congress leader said that moves are afoot to organise a visit of the Prime Minister to Bundelkhand soon.
The Union Budget 2010-11 unveiled last week has found a special mention for the region and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has made a separate allocation of Rs 1,200 crore for Bundelkhand, which spreads over 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
In November last year, the government had announced a special package of Rs 7,266 crore for implementation of drought mitigation strategy and integrated development of the Bundelkhand region.
