Union Minister Jairam Ramesh rejects two development projects in Bundelkhand
Observing that Ken-Betwa link project would pose a threat to tigers of the Panna National Park, Union Minister of Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh has raised objections over two development projects in Bundelkhand.
Ken-Betwa link and Lalitpur-Singrauli rail line are the two projects that would suffer in the process. On his visit to the national park, Ramesh said a line from Satna to Panna would be constructed as an alternative route.
Upset over Jairam’s decision, Khajuraho MP Jitendra Singh Bundela said on one hand the Central government is granting a special development package for Bundelkhand, on the other, it is stalling two projects that would prove to be lifelines for Bundelkhand.
