(Article) Bundelkhand: Extreme Cold become Trouble For Rabi Crops.
Bundelkhand

The troubles of farmers of the impoverished Bundelkhand
region seem to be endless. Now, intense cold and dense fog have spoiled the Rabi
harvest. The worries of cultivators have increased with the fall in mercury and
thick fog cover. Unofficial sources claimed that 60 per cent of the Rabi crop,
which mainly includes wheat, barley and mustard, has been adversely affected by
the fog and severe cold in this region of Uttar Pradesh. The Agriculture
department has primarily assessed loss of 30 per cent crops in a report to the
state government. The farmers of the backward Bundelkhand region, which is
infamous for the maximum number of suicide cases, are now concerned for the
repayment of loans to banks and co-operative committees.
