Babina Cantt's Amit Sahu Secured All India Rank 18th in IES/ISS Exam - 2012

The final result for Indian Economic Services Exam 2012 has been announced on 06.08.2013 by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) wherein 31 candidates have been declared successful for Indian Economic Services alongwith 21 other candidates for Indian Statistical Services.

Among the said 31 students declared successful for Indian Economic Services, there is one candidate called AMIT SAHU who has secured All-India Rank 18th and who belongs to a small & remote area called Babina Cantt which falls under Jhansi District of Uttar Pradesh. Despite hailing from a remote area and being the son of a small shopkeeper, his efforts for securing such a prestigious position in a highly competitive exam like IES are praiseworthy and deserves proper publicity and coverage by media. I believe he may be the first candidate ever from Jhansi city to have qualified this prestigious exam.

Shri Amit Sahu has been a brilliant student since his school days. He topped the Class 12th exam from St. Xavier's School, BHEL, in the year 2003. He then with hard preparations secured admission in IIT Kharagpur in 2006 and obtained his Masters Degree in Economics from there after which he went to Delhi for preparing for IES exam. While preparing for IES, he cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC and also secured Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). With hard work and dedication, he cleared the Indian Economic Service (IES) exam in the first attempt itself and secured All-India Rank 18th and 2nd Rank in OBC category, which is a great achievement in itself

The candidature of the Roll Nos 4071 & 5575 (IES) and 1957 & 7731 (ISS) is provisional.

UPSC has a “Facilitation Counter” near “C” Gate of its campus. Candidates may obtain any information/clarification regarding their examination/recruitments on working days between 10:00 hrs. To 17:00 hrs in person or over telephone Nos. 011-23385271/011-23381125/011-23098543 from this Counter. Result will also be available on the UPSC Website, i.e., http://www.upsc.gov.in. Marks-sheets of candidates, who have not qualified, will be put on the Commission’s Website
within 15 days from the date of publication of the final result and will remain available on the Website for a period of 45 days.
