Oldest lakes in Bundelkhand region will soon get a facelift
With help from the Centre, one of the oldest lakes in Bundelkhand region will soon get a facelift.
The Union Ministry of Environment will provide 70 per cent of the fund for the restoration and renovation work of the 400-year old Lakshmi Talaab in Jhansi. The state government’s Department of Urban Development will provide rest of the fund.
The lake will be restored under the National Lake Conservation Project (NLCP).
The Union ministry has given its nod to the project, with an estimated cost of around Rs 47 crore.
The Lakshmi Talaab is one of the oldest lakes in the region, situated on the outskirts of the city. According to official information, the lake is estimated to be about 400-year-old and is a part of the historical legacy of the region.
