UP approves 2,000-MW Bargarh power plant

The state government has decided in principle to set up a 2,000 MW thermal power project in Bargarh region of the state, official sources said here on Friday.

“A proposal to this effect was discussed during a meeting of the Energy Task Force chaired by Chief Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta on Thursday and it was decided to set up a 2,000 MW plant in Bargarh area of Chitrakoot,” they said.

It has been planned that the project would be set up either by the state utility UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam or by a private player.
