Chitrakoot, Feb 9: Police has arrested a class XI boy Manvendra Tripathi who shot and grievously injured a classmate over a dispute. Manvendra was arrested while he was trying to surrender before the police.

Manvendra, a resident of Banda, and Ashish, of Pratapgarh, studied science at the Chitrakoot Intermediate College in Karvi.

He shot at Ashish from a country-made gun in his hostel room.

Manvendra said that he only intended to scare Ashish but the trigger went off accidentally.

Manvendra said that he had bought the gun from a former student of the same school.

(NEWS) Mahoba-Khajuraho rail service to start from Feb 15 2008

Mahoba, Feb 3: To boost tourism, the Indian Railways is set to commence the much-awaited Mahoba-Khajuraho rail service from February 15.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad would show the green signal to the first passenger train on the new route.

According to railway sources, the track had been laid down up to Dumra station.

While, the remaining work is on the cusp of completion.

At the Mahoba station, platform and ticket booking centres have been constructed.

Bundelkhand, Jan 17 (ANI): Congress General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi has favoured the reconstruction of Uttar Pradesh and called for the creation of a Bundelkhand State to solve problems in the backward areas of the state.

Talking to reporters while on an outreach programme in the drought-hit Bundelkhand today, he said, "The Central Government programmes for development in backward regions in the state were not being implemented properly".
